Projects
Optimizing logistic flows of supplies
Context
How to assess the supply capabilities and identify critical requirements?
Our client aims to connect the Seine basin with the North of France and the Benelux countries through a large-scale canal. However, the scale of this project requires the supply of several million tons of materials throughout its duration. Therefore, the Project Owner wished to initiate a comprehensive logistic modeling and analysis on material supply in order to:
Verify the availability of the required production capacities
Assess opportunities and economics for modal transfer to waterways and railways
Determine the infrastructure needed (railway platforms, docks, etc) to facilitate modal transfer
Identify contractual requirements to be integrated into the company's tender documents.
Our Solutions
Dillygence has conducted a detailed flow analysis in order to define the optimal supply chain for the project. It has used Operational Excellence and modeling know-how, backed by its digital twin "DispoX".
Benefits
Supplier capacities assessed, critical suppliers identified
Dillygence identified the main material suppliers and their production capacities. The next step then was to work within these constrains to plan optimal logistic chains from supplier sites to the relevant docks, sites, etc.
Localization and sizing of the railway platforms and docks
Another parameter to take into account in the optimal supply transport, was the future canal route. In order to do so, Dillygence computed the CO2 emissions in the model.
Conception of the Supply Chain
Dillygence's output determined which suppliers deliver which platforms or docks and hence, which otpimal mode of transportation to use to achieve the objectives.
